Hikes along trails that lead to the red rocks, the vortexes, and through trees dressed in their autumn finest, visits to restaurants where, even as the daytime temperatures will still be warm (not hot) bowls of chili and large slabs of meatloaf will hit the spot, and attending the festivals and events that celebrate the season. Add in a stay in our comfortable and luxurious Sedona.Org seasonal sanctuaries and your Arizona trip becomes an Arizona trip of a lifetime; this guide to the top fall events in Sedona will help you fill in all the blank spaces on your itinerary.

Sedona Winefest, September 28th & 29th, Posse Grounds Park

What better way to celebrate the new season than by raising a toast to its beauty? Sedona Winefest will help you add to your wine collection, introducing you to Arizona wines that always delight. Arizona is fast becoming a threat to Napa Valley and this two-day wine event offers the perfect examples as to why this is so. It’s not just Arizona wine that will be featured at this fun event, as there will be vendors from Arizona distilleries and breweries, ensuring that every member of your traveling party will find a beverage to quench their thirst. Also offering food vendors, arts and crafts vendors, and live music that will make the smooth beverages go down even smoother, this first event of the fall season is destined to be your favorite.

Sedona Arts Festival, October 12 & 13, Sedona Red Rock High School

October is quite possibly the most beautiful month of the year in Sedona, and as such, there are many festivals and events that fill up the weekends, starting with the Sedona Arts Festival. Offering two days of art, food, and fun, the proceeds of this festival that has been a Sedona tradition for over 30 years are used to support continuing arts education in our schools, and as of last tally, over $300,000 have been donated. Offering a peek into the work of some of the states best artists and the opportunity to own masterpieces that will bring the Southwest into your own home, this event is one we highly recommend.

Howl-o-Ween Costume Parade, October 13, Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village

This seasonal parade will appeal to your sense of aww, offering a cavalcade of sweet pooches dressed in costumes and parading through the streets of Tlaquepaque. Free to watch and easy to fall in love with, the parade is free to watch, but if you are staying in one of our pet friendly Sedona.Org sanctuaries and brought your own fur baby along for the ride, you might want to consider joining in the fun. Parade entry fees are $10 for 1-2 individuals and their pet, $30 for a pack (the entire family!), and wagon-sized floats can be entered in the parade for $20. The proceeds are used to help homeless animals at the Humane Society.

Sedona Plein Air Festival, October 18 – 26, Downtown Sedona

The most beautiful places in the world attract the best artists and the art festivals continue with the Sedona Plein Air Festival, returning for its 18th year. While most festivals allow guests to purchase the completed works of the talented individuals, this one allows the world to see the process of the art as the artists create their works outside in the open air (hence the term plein air) stationed at various spots throughout town. Also offering workshops led by renowned artists, free events, and of course, the opportunity to purchase the works you have watched being made.

Sedona Food Truck Festival, November 9, Posse Grounds Park

The best vacations are often remembered for the foods that are tried, and for those who attend the Sedona Food Truck Festival on November 9th, it will be possible to enjoy a taste of all that Sedona has to offer without having to venture from restaurant to restaurant. Starting at 11 AM to 4 PM and offering beer and wine for sale as well, this tasty festival is a local favorite.
