Take a Hike

From the moment you first arrive in town you will definitely want to get a closer look at those red rocks and the trails that traverse our countryside will take you right up to some of the best ones. The Devil’s Bridge Trail, a moderate one offering a 400-foot gain in elevation and taking you to its base and if you are really brave, you can climb to the top of the formation and enjoy panoramic views that will take your breath away. For those who have heard of the vortexes and feel that this weekend is the perfect time to visit one, there are trails that will take you there too, including the Sedona Airport Loop Trail, that will take you to one of the most powerful ones in town.

Get in Touch with Your Mystical Side

Sedona has been designated the most mystical place in the United States, famous for the spiritual pilgrimages people make, its fascinating red rock formations (although there is a perfectly logical and scientific reason for them) and is also known as the New Age Capital, with visitors coming to meditate, engage in next level yoga classes, and to purchase crystals that serve all sorts of purposes. You may not have the time to meditate or the energy to partake in a yoga class, but we are pretty sure you will have plenty of time to purchase crystals at the shops listed below.

  • Twisted Alchemist, 235 N State Route 89A Unit 3
  • Sedona Crystal Vortex, 300 N State Route 89A
  • Crystal Magic, 2978 AZ 89A

Visit Slide Rock State Park

Slide Rock State Park is famous for its 80-foot-long natural water slide, created from sandstone that has been worn away from water over the centuries and in the summer months it is where visitors and locals cool off when the mercury is rising. The park was once an apple orchard and many of its trees remain, so if you are here in October, you can pay to pick your own, enjoying a sweet and healthy treat when you get back to your Sedona weekend getaway. Also a good place to go trout fishing, hiking, and swimming, you could spend an entire day exploring all that this state park has to offer. Park entry is $20 per car.

Shop ‘til You Drop at Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village

Crystal shopping will be fun and fulfilling, but we also recommend you setting aside some time to explore the art, gifts, and other treasures that can be found at Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village, located at 336 AZ 179. This mall is more of an artist’s colony offering a variety of galleries, but there are also restaurants, bars, and a really fun Christmas store that is open year round. If you are here during Christmas, be sure to check out their Christmas events that including the lighting of 6000 luminarias, a Mexican tradition that translates into beauty and serenity for all.
