Experience Sedona this June through sunset movies, red rock yoga, and soulful violin performances. This 2026 guide highlights the best local events, from tequila tastings to stargazing under dark skies. Prepare for a perfect mix of desert wellness and high-energy culture in Arizona’s stunning landscape.

As spring fades into the rearview mirror, Sedona begins to hum with a specific kind of summer energy. By June, the desert sun is warm, but the mornings remain crisp and the evenings are perfect for outdoor stargazing. Whether you are coming for the legendary vortexes or just a good glass of Arizona tequila, this month is packed with local tradition and new experiences.

I’ve put together a look at what’s actually happening on the ground this June. It’s more than just a calendar; it’s about finding those specific moments (quiet morning on the trails or a loud, soulful concert) that make a summer trip here feel complete.

Contents

  1. Sedona 2-Hour Yoga Hike: Find Your Balance
  2. Fiddler on the Rock: A One-Man Symphony
  3. Celebrate Sedona! Arts & Culture Fest
  4. Spirits and Spice: Tequila & Whiskey Tastings
  5. Summer Cinema Series: Movies Under the Stars
  6. Stargazing: The Dark Sky Advantage
  7. Why June is the “Sweet Spot” for Sedona

1. Sedona 2-Hour Yoga Hike: Find Your Balance

Dates: Every Sunday in June (June 7, 14, 21, and 28, 2026)

Time: 8:30 AM – 10:30 AM

Location: Red Rock State Park Visitor Center (Meet at 8:25 AM)

There is something inherently different about doing a “downward dog” while staring at the iron-rich spires of Cathedral Rock rather than a gym wall. Down Dog Sedona continues their popular tradition this June with moderate-level hikes that culminate in an hour-long yoga session on the red rocks.

A Personal Note: I remember my first time doing yoga on the sandstone. You expect it to be hard and unforgiving, but the rock holds heat from the sun in a way that feels like a natural heating pad for your muscles. By the time you reach the plateau and start your flow, the silence of the park is so deep you can hear the wings of a raven passing overhead. It’s less of a workout and more of a conversation with the landscape.

Pro-Tip: June mornings can heat up fast. Even though the session starts early, bring double the water you think you’ll need.

2. Fiddler on the Rock: A One-Man Symphony

Dates: Thursdays in June (Specifically June 4 and 11, 2026)

Time: 5:15 PM – 6:45 PM

Location: Historic Apple Barn at the Sedona Heritage Museum

If you think a violin concert sounds formal or stiff, you haven’t seen Tyler Carson. Featured twice on CBS Mornings, his “Fiddler on the Rock” show uses live loop pedals and special effects to make a single violin sound like a full cinematic orchestra.

The venue itself is a piece of history. The Apple Barn is climate-controlled, providing a much-needed respite from the afternoon heat. Carson’s repertoire is famously diverse. Don’t be surprised to hear a soulful rendition of Led Zeppelin followed immediately by a Taylor Swift hit.

3. Celebrate Sedona! Arts & Culture Fest

Date: June 5, 2026

Time: 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Location: Sedona Arts Center (Upper Parking Lot)

This is the “local’s choice” event. Held once a month, Celebrate Sedona! is a high-energy community mixer featuring live music, food trucks, and regional drink vendors. In June 2026, the event coincides with the opening of the “Big Gay Art Show,” adding a vibrant layer of diversity and celebration to the arts district.

Expect to see live ceramic demonstrations and plenty of local artisans selling everything from hand-thrown mugs to desert-inspired jewelry. It’s the perfect way to spend a Friday evening before heading to dinner in Uptown.

4. Spirits and Spice: Tequila & Whiskey Tastings

Dates: Every Thursday in June (Whiskey) and select Thursdays (Tequila)

Time: 4:00 PM – 4:45 PM

Location: Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village

Tlaquepaque is often called the “heart of Sedona,” and Spirits & Spice is its most flavorful corner. Their guided tasting tours are educational but unpretentious. For about $15, you get a 45-minute tour of high-end spirits, and that fee usually counts toward any bottle you decide to buy.

The Experience: Walking through the cobblestone paths of Tlaquepaque under the giant sycamore trees feels like stepping into a Mexican village. Last time I sat in on a tasting, the guide explained the “terroir” of the agave, how the volcanic soil of the region changes the smoke profile of the drink. It makes you appreciate that glass of tequila a lot more than just a standard cocktail would.

5. Summer Cinema Series: Movies Under the Stars

Dates: Every Friday in June

Time: Dusk (usually around 7:45 PM)

Location: Rotating venues including Posse Grounds Park and Sedona Community Pool

There is no better way to cap off a June week than a free movie in the grass. The City of Sedona organizes these screenings at various parks. The 2026 lineup focuses on family-friendly hits, with the month usually concluding with a blockbuster like Wicked.

What to pack:

6. Stargazing: The Dark Sky Advantage

Dates: Peak viewing June 11–14, 2026 (New Moon window)

Sedona is an International Dark Sky Community, meaning the city limits light pollution to keep the heavens visible. While there aren’t always formal festivals every weekend, June 2026 is a prime time for the Cherry Springs Star Party philosophy to take hold locally.

If you aren’t booking a professional star tour, head out to the Jordan Trailhead or Cultural Park with a stargazing app. Because the air is so dry in June, the Milky Way often looks like a bright, dusty cloud stretched across the sky, a sight you simply can’t get in most major cities.

Why June is the “Sweet Spot” for Sedona

While many travelers wait for the fall, June offers a unique advantage: Extended Daylight. With the summer solstice occurring in late June, you have maximum “golden hour” time for photography and late-evening strolls.

Quick 2026 Summer Travel Facts:

Final Recommendation: Stony Brook Lodging

If you find that the Sedona heat is a bit much and you want to continue your mountain adventure elsewhere this summer, consider heading east to the Great Smoky Mountains. Stony Brook Lodging offers incredible cabins in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge that provide a lush, green contrast to Arizona’s red rocks. It’s the perfect way to enjoy two very different types of mountain magic in one summer.

Take a Hike With These Summer Activities in Sedona

Some hikes can be a little too much for those with shorter legs, but the hiking trails that lead through Red Rock State Park are child friendly and are perfect for helping the littles burn off all that excess energy! Summers can get a little warm, so it is best that this activity takes place in the early hours when you know your excited little adventurers are going to be awake and waiting for fun. The visitor center offers a Junior Ranger program for kids 6-12, so be sure to check it out.

Slide Rock State Park

Many years ago, Slide Rock State Park was an apple orchard, providing sweet treats to the town. Before that, it was more than likely a gathering spot for the native American peoples who made their homes on this rugged land. Today, however, it is a beautiful park filled with fun things to do, including a sandstone “waterslide” that will keep everyone cool (even cold!) during the hottest days of summer! Located in Oak Creek Canyon, Slide Rock is one of our favorite swimming holes, and we think it will be yours as well.

Expert Tip: During summer, the parking lot often reaches capacity by 9:00 AM. Aim to arrive right when the gates open to guarantee entry.

Ice Cream on a Hot Summer’s Day

There is no greater treat on a hot day than a sweet and delicious ice cream, and Sabrina’s Gourmet Ice Cream is destined to appeal to parents AND children! Located at 300 AZ 89A, and offering 15 unique flavors as well as the classics, ensuring your picky eaters will find the cone they love, you may want to come back more than once, simply to taste all the deliciousness found inside. Today, we at Sedona.Org are loving Huckleberry, but last week we couldn’t get enough of their Peanut Butter Fudge, so drop in today and discover your newest obsession!

Take a Peek into the Past

The Sedona Heritage Museum, located at 735 Jordan Road, provides a fascinating glimpse into the Wild West with exhibits that explore everything from cowboys to wine making. Explore the historic telegraph office, a restored building used in the John Wayne film Angel and the Badman, highlighting Hollywood’s contribution to our history. This is one museum that appeals to travelers of all age groups!

Lunch at the Cowboy Club

The Old West is alive and well in Sedona, and lunchtime break at the Cowboy Club will fill the empty spaces in your tummies while feeding the curiosity of kiddos who are thrilled by anything cowboy. Offering a menu of sandwiches, burgers, and family comfort meals and located in uptown Sedona at 241 N State Route 89A, its artwork will please, especially the bronze statue of a “real live cowboy” that greets guests at the door!

Their cactus fries with prickly pear dipping sauce is a must-try and one of the menu items that the Cowboy Club is famous for.

Walk on the Wild Side

Out of Africa Wildlife Park is located at 3505 W State Route 260 in nearby Camp Verde, 27 miles south of Sedona. The family can get up close and personal with baby animals, be entertained by the Tiger Splash show, or watch the giant predators get fed. Better than a zoo, the park offers an intimate experience with nature while educating the world’s younger generations on the importance of keeping our wildlife wild!

Stay Home with Sedona.Org

Red Rock Scenic Byway

Gather your group and pack up the rental car and head out for some sightseeing with these activities in Sedona. The Red Rock Scenic Byway (SR-179) takes you on a short trip that can last hours. Only 7.5 miles long, the byway itself is a short drive, but you can spend hours at the many scenic pull-off points along the way.

Gaze out over the towering red rocks of Red Rock Country. Go during the day for a spectacular view from every angle you can see or take a sunset cruise. While you’re out, stop by the Coconino National Forest visitor’s center for maps of hiking and biking trails you’ll want to check out.

Verde Canyon Railroad

Take a scenic tour without the rental car so everyone can enjoy the sights. The Verde Canyon Railroad is available any time of year, and a fun way to sightsee. The train helps you stay out of the heat of an Arizona early-summer day and takes you through areas you won’t be able experience in your car. Book a seat on your desired day.

Stick to your seat or head to an open-air viewing platform car for a better view of the red rock and pine forest scenery surrounding you. After you’ve enjoyed yourself on a ride, come back another time for one of their themed rides, including the ‘Chocolate Lovers’ Festival’ for Valentine’s Day, the Easter Bunny Express, and the Magical Christmas Journey.

Helicopter Tour

Bring your camera and take to the skies for a different kind of sightseeing. View the colorful landscape of Sedona and the surrounding area from a bird’s eye view on a helicopter tour of the area. Your pilot will point out popular landmarks like the Chapel of the Holy Cross, Three Nuns Rock, Snoopy Rock, Steamboat Rock, and many more. Packages vary by tour company, with rides as short as 15 minutes all the way up to 55 minutes of air time. Ask about transportation to and from your accommodations.

Keep in mind that all vehicles must be completely enclosed (no ATVs, convertibles, or open-top jeeps) and have operational windows.

Horseback Riding

Many companies offer horseback riding tours in the fashion of the “Old West” heritage of Arizona. Guided tours will fill you in about the area’s flora and fauna, the mountains, and the history of the land during your jaunt. Bring your camera and capture the wonder of panoramic views and thrilling terrain like the Verde Valley, Sedona Red Rocks, and more. You can even go as far as the San Francisco Peaks of Flagstaff.

Off-Road Tours

There are so many ways to get up close and experience the great outdoors of Sedona. An off-road tour mixes a scenic drive through the mountains with the adventure of hiking or biking through the terrain and offers an unforgettable experience.
