Fright Night Haunted House AZ, Verde Canyon Railroad in Nearby Clarkdale

Haunted houses are so last year, but haunted railcars add another element of fright to your Halloween festivities and Fright Night Haunted “House” in Clarkdale will change the way you see haunted houses forevermore. Three haunted railcars have taken up permanent residence on some abandoned rails located just below the railroad, offering terrifying glimpses of your real phobias coming to life, including spiders, cannibals, and some jump scares that will really start your heart beating fast. Open on Fridays and Saturdays (and Halloween) from 5-10 PM, this is not an event for your tiniest travelers, but older tweens and teens will be thrilled.

Halloween Ball, Hull Avenue in Jerome

Jerome, Arizona, located just 20 something miles southwest of Sedona, was once in danger of becoming a ghost town making their annual Halloween Ball a very chilling event, but that is ok, a heated tent will keep you warm as you dance to the grooves provided by local band Naughty Bits, sip your favorite alcoholic beverages sold from three separate bars (one is beer only) and frighten new friends with your terrifying costume. Sponsored by the Jerome Fire Department, food trucks and a costume contest complete the very satisfying celebration of the spookiest holiday of the year.

Trick-or-Treating for the Kids, Various Locations

We can almost guarantee that travelers with children of trick-or-treating age faced some very angry questions from their normally sweet kiddos, all afraid that they wouldn’t get to beg for candy on their second favorite holiday of the year. (It is difficult to beat all the presents received at Christmas) Fortunately, there will be plenty of opportunities for your children to dress up and demand the sweet treats that they will unknowingly share with you after they have crashed from their sugar highs.

  • Uptown Trick-or-Treat, Halloween in the Uptown District of Sedona – 5 o’clock is the traditional start time for this safe begging Sedona AZ Halloween event sponsored by the shops of the uptown district of Sedona. Each participating business will be marked by a bunch of holiday balloons and parents can perhaps get a little window shopping done while their costumed adventurers do their thing.
  • Safe Trick-or-Treating, Halloween, Upper Clarkdale Around Town Park – We parents have to consistently worry about the safety and well-being of our children, but this safe Halloween event is sponsored by the town of Clarkdale costs nothing and allows your princesses and cowboys to enjoy a ghoulish good time trick-or-treating. This event starts at 5 PM and ends at 7 PM.
  • Halloween Trunk or Treat, Halloween, Cottonwood Recreation Center – Starting at 4 PM, we have done the calculations, and we know that your kids can actually enjoy twice the begging if you start the festivities in Cottonwood, going from decorated car to decorated car for about an hour and then heading back to Sedona or even Upper Clarkdale to finish up the evening’s excitement. Each year features a different theme for the decorations, and we can’t wait to find out what this year’s will be.
