The Colors of Fall
Although a hike through the Sedona landscape is technically more of a fall activity, it is still one of our favorite October activities! The crisp coolness of a beautiful October day, the clear blue skies, and the smell of smoke from fireplaces wafting through the air gives these mid-fall days a tranquil and serene feel that we can never get enough of. Watching the leaves on the tree turn from dark green to red to gold never fails to take our breath away and when the temps dip into the cooler zone after nightfall, our Sedona.Org hot tubs are often waiting to help warm cold fingers and toes. The daytime temps, however, are absolutely perfect as you stroll along the Munds Wagon Trail, experiencing a bit of what earlier settlers may have hundreds of years ago.
Mortimer Farms Pumpkin Fest and Corn Maze, 12907 E. State Route 169 in Dewey
The Mortimer Farms Pumpkin Fest and Corn Maze, taking place the last week of September through the entire month of October, has been an Arizona tradition long before it became Mortimer Farms, and even though it is a bit of a drive, (about 54 miles south of Sedona) the old-fashioned fun and charm will make you glad you made the trip! The corn maze is always a hit, open daily and not scary at all, but if you want to experience everything the festival has to offer, be sure and plan your visit for a weekend! Offering hay rides, animal encounters, food and art vendors, and the opportunity to pick your favorite pumpkin, this fall extravaganza is destined to be the highlight of your Halloween vacation.
Howl-O-Ween Costume Parade, Tlaquepaque
The pet costume parade held every year at Tlaquepaque is guaranteed to be your family’s favorite Halloween in Sedona activity and if you are staying in one of our pet friendly Sedona.Org properties, why not sign your precious pooch up for the fun? Held on October 16th in 2022, this fun and whimsical event leads costumed pets through the tree lined streets of Tlaquepaque and even if you don’t have your own fur baby along for the ride, it will be an awwww-somely good time!
Fall Arts and Crafts Show, 735 Jordan Road
The mystical charms of Sedona have always attracted the most talented arts and crafts people from all over the world and the Fall Arts & Craft Show is the perfect time to purchase their wares! Everything offered is homemade (shop local!) and the most difficult part of your adventure will be stopping yourself from purchasing everything you see! Featuring southwestern arts, homemade crafts, and everything that makes fall special, this is one show you will be sad if you miss! Falling on October 22nd in 2022, the date varies yearly, so check it out before you make your plans!
Fright Nights on the Haunted Train, Thursdays, Fridays, & Saturdays in October in Clarkdale
The Verde Canyon Railroad takes things to the spooky side with their Fright Nights on the Haunted Train, taking place on Thursdays, Fridays, & Saturdays in October and, of course, on Halloween itself! Offering a haunted house on train wheels complete with cobwebs, deranged clowns, and all manner of creepy fun, the train is actually stationary, but you and your family won’t notice the difference. For the youngest goblins in your traveling party a Halloween village with pumpkin painting, trick or treating, and a “Frankenstein’s Feast” scales back the spook to ensure that after the candy hyperactivity fades, sleep will be deep and uninterrupted by nightmares!
All the Comforts of Home
Of course, staying home with Sedona.Org can be the most exciting Halloween adventure of all as you watch “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” on Smart televisions, eating all the Halloween candy, and perhaps enjoying spiced wine on the balcony overlooking the red rocks! These moments are special ones, destined to make the memories you never want to forget, and when you slide between the silky soft sheets that top our premium mattresses each night, you will know that planning this Holiday escape to Sedona was the best decision you could have made.
