Jerome

This is the easiest Sedona day trip you can do, and it’s close enough to do in an afternoon if you’d like—but with so much to discover it’s recommended to spend the day there! Jerome is an old mining town nestled high in the mountains above a few other towns about 30 minutes west of Sedona. Wander along winding streets to peek in boutique shops and dine at local restaurants with breathtaking views. A favorite of locals, you’ll find tons of history in this little town, from old ghost stories to long-standing buildings.

Flagstaff

Flagstaff is a town that lies about an hour north of Sedona, and at higher elevation has a true mountain-town feel that’s a little reminiscent of towns in the Rockies—especially when it snows in the winter! Home to the Snowbowl, the San Francisco Peak mountain offers up a variety of recreation in the winter, making this town a frequented spot by local skiers and snowboarders. There’s plenty of inviting bars and restaurants in town, and local breweries like Lumberyard Brewing where you can kick back on the patio in the summer with a local brew. Flagstaff also is surrounded by pine forests, and the drive there is so scenic it is definitely not to be missed!

The Grand Canyon

Of course, last but not least, the Grand Canyon is only about a two-hour drive from Sedona, so if this is on your bucket list, it’s a great time to see it in just a day! The quickest route will take you to the south rim, where you can enjoy hiking trails and plenty of scenic outlooks, as well as the bars and restaurants in the Grand Canyon Village. If you make the drive early you can easily spend the entire day there! As a bonus, the route will also take you through Flagstaff, so with enough time you can squeeze in both! This will definitely be the best Sedona day trip you will have.
