There is nothing else quite like Sedona even in the surrounding Arizona hills. Our native region offers an abundance of exciting activities for you to enjoy during any stay here in town. Many visitors enjoy finding all the thrilling Sedona swimming holes in the area and exploring them from top to bottom. Here are some of our favorite swimming holes for you to track down in Sedona:
Swimming in Sedona – Grasshopper Point
Oak Creek is known for its beauty all down the river. Many stops along Oak Creek are perfect to cool off and relax during the warmer summer months. Grasshopper Point Swimming and Picnic Area is the perfect spot to set up the whole family for an afternoon under the sun. This swimming hole is one of the most popular attractions in the area and the summer months will truly show it. Make sure to get to Grasshopper Point first thing in the morning during the summer months so you can find a parking spot; if you wait too long, you will have to wait around for quite a while until someone else leaves. Like all Arizona state parks, it is open from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
Slide Rock State Park
Another extremely popular swimming hole is found at Slide Rock State Park. This park is also a part of Oak Creek but is found approximately seven miles north of Sedona. Slide Rock State Park gets its name from the natural water slide that has formed due to the slippery bed of Oak Creek. The area has plenty of shade, allowing you to hide from the sun. However, with all of the shade, expect to find the water to be very cold even during summer. Several “potholes” can be found in the swimming area where you can find deep water to jump into. As always, make sure to take care when jumping into natural Sedona swimming holes. The hours differ at Slide Rock State Park; you can enjoy this natural swimming hole every day of the week from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
