Enjoy the Peace and Quiet
Real life is often noisy and chaotic, but your Sedona getaway can quiet the noise and calm the chaos when you choose one of our Sedona.Org solo escapes. These spaces may be smaller than the ones you are used to staying in on vacations with your family, but they will still give you all the peace and quiet you crave, as well as providing all the necessities that make travel comfortable and fun. Spend an evening at home, perhaps streaming your favorite music as you prepare a meal for one in our fully equipped kitchens, occasionally singing along with the songs playing. Set the mood and light candles before settling in to devour the meal you are treating yourself with paired with a wine you purchased during your explorations of the Verde Valley Wine Trail. Sedona has a few wineries you can visit, but one of our favorite tasting rooms is in nearby Cottonwood, the Pillsbury Wine Company Tasting Room, so if you haven’t been there yet, be sure to add it to your itinerary!
After your meal has been eaten and the dishes are placed in the sink, (you can load the dishwasher later, this night is about finding the peace you crave not doing chores) it can be time to head out to your balcony overlooking the red rocks and wait for the sun to set. An Arizona sunset is a magical sight to see, and as the sky cycles through all the fiery colors of one, you will feel your troubles drifting from your shoulders and notice that the noises in your brain are quieting. We toss the word magic around here in Sedona, but there honestly is no better word to describe our charming village that lives in the shadows of the red rocks. As the sky darkens and the stars begin to twinkle brightly in that vast sky, you could choose to go back inside, watch a little television, and then head off to our cloud soft beds to sleep, or you could simply sit here for a little while longer. The sounds of nightfall include the winds whispering through the trees, the roar of Oak Creek somewhere off in the distance, and even further off in the distance, the call of wildlife seeking a mate will ease your stresses even more. Your solo journey to Sedona is suddenly becoming a life changing adventure, one you will never regret embarking on.
Opportunity Abounds
Sedona really is the perfect destination for solo travelers because it is the perfect spot to find space for quiet reflections and self-growth. Known around the world for its new-age approach to self-awareness, you don’t need a guided tour (though those are certainly available) to connect yourself with nature and the vastness of this shared world. Here are a few of our recommendations of things you can do to optimize your vacation time when you book our lodging near Sedona.
Hiking
Sedona is known throughout the world for its amazing hiking opportunities. With trails suited to every experience level, you can opt for a leisurely stroll along Oak Creek, a more strenuous length through the red rocks, or challenge yourself with a steep incline that is difficult at best but affords some amazing views.
Crystal Shops
Sedona is famous for its vortexes and enhanced energy, so it will come as no surprise to you that there are a plethora of knowledgeable people ready to guide you on your spiritual journey. Stop by one of Sedona’s infamous crystal shops, like Crystal Magic or Mystical Bazaar, to purchase a gift for yourself and maybe even the people at home. From healing stones to original artwork, candles, jewelry, spiritual books and guides, and so much more, there’s plenty eye candy to distract you. Another draw for these stores is the option to get a reading or have your aura photographed. You can learn things about yourself that you never knew.
Prayer Temples
Amitabha Stupa and Peace Park is another wonderful destination you don’t want to miss out on. Long recognized as a holy ground by many of the native tribes in the area, Buddhists have also come to acknowledge this 14-acre park as a sacred space that holds the power of spiritual healing and transformation. Nestled into the beautiful red rocks at the foot of Thunder Mountain, the stunning architecture of this gorgeous park is adorned with colorful peace flags and features a stupa that rises 36-feet into the air.
Another favorite is the world-renowned Chapel of the Holy Cross. Built in 1956, this amazing architectural marvel was built into a twin pinnacled spur that reaches about 250 feet high, jutting out a 1,000-foot rock wall, making it “solid as the rock of Peter.” While the church no longer practices a regular mass schedule at this location, visitors are encouraged to peruse the grounds in contemplative silence, soaking in the awe-inspiring artwork present throughout.
