Get Out and Explore
While a stay in a beautiful Sedona cabin rental is bound to be exciting, a trip isn’t complete until you’ve gotten out and explored the beauty Sedona provides. While you’re here, make time to hike the Oak Creek Canyon off of Route 89A. This scenic trek through a 16-mile gorge complete with waterfalls, breathtaking rock walls and gently flowing streams. It’s a wonderful way to connect with nature that makes Sedona the captivating destination it’s long been. Stay at Sedona Jewel, a perfect place to disconnect and enjoy nature!
Sunset Park
When you’re staying in a cabin rental in Sedona AZ with little ones in tow, or just need a space that offers up the luxurious of a leisurely afternoon made to enjoy, make your way to Sunset Park. Settled in at 655 Sunset Drive, Sunset Park is a versatile destination that offers up ample opportunities to walk the trails, enjoy a picnic lunch or make the most of large grassy areas for lounging or getting ready for some friendly competition with a game of soccer. Sunset Park spans over 7 acres of land and includes two designated recreation areas that are specific to both kids and adults. Guests can make the most of tennis courts, basketball courts, and pickleball courts while they’re here as well. The Lollipop Trail runs through Sunset Park, and for those looking to make more of daily hiking excursions, conveniently loops up with the Coconino National Forest.
While the weather in Sedona is notoriously warm, on those particularly hot summer days, enjoy time spent at the Sunset Park Splash Pad! This fun and colorful water feature is a great place for kids to enjoy time in the water and cool off in style. Dogs are allowed at Sunset Park but must remain on a leash for the safety of all guests.
For guests interested in spending the day enjoying the courts at Sunset Park tournament-style, they can be easily rented through the Parks and Recreation Department. Similarly, those looking to host a party or event at a Sunset Park shelter will want to make time to reserve the space through the Parks and Recreation Department too.
Road Trip Adventures
There is so much to do in the Sedona area, you may be wondering why you would even need to venture out further, and although it isn’t necessary, should you decide to do so you can find a whole world of exciting things to do when you go on the road!
Take a step back in time (ok, more like a few hundred steps back) and visit the Montezuma Castle National Monument in Camp Verde. Located about 25 miles from your Sedona.Org cabin, the structures built into the cliffs were once home to the Sinagua people who lived here over 900 years ago; today it is a National Monument that truly is a fascinating place to visit.
The Verde Valley Wine Trail is a popular activity, with a variety of tour companies ensuring that guests reach their wine destinations safely. Offering “stops” here in Sedona, (Winery 1912, Vino Zona) the tour takes guests through neighboring towns, including Clarkdale, Cottonwood, and our favorite almost ghost town, (and next destination on our road trip of Arizona fun!) Jerome. Jerome, Arizona was in danger of dying out after the last mine closed in 1953, but instead became an artist colony that is today one of our favorite places to visit. Offering art galleries, wineries, and incredible views, the history of the town can be explored at the Douglas Mansion that is now a museum in Jerome State Historic Park.
Finally, the last stop on our road trip to wonderful in scenic northern Arizona is, of course, the Grand Canyon. Located about two hours north of Sedona, it is entirely possible to get there, explore, and get back to the creature comforts of your Sedona.Org cabin in one day, but if you really want an adventure, schedule a donkey ride to the bottom and an overnight stay at the Phantom Ranch. The views in all your road trip adventures are guaranteed to be breathtaking but they pale in comparison with the majestic beauty of the Grand Canyon, even if you decide not to go down into it. Hiking the canyon is a popular activity but is only recommended for seasoned hikers. The down part is not so bad, but remember, when the end of your hike has been reached, you still need to go back up, which is definitely not so easy! For many visitors, sipping wine or beer at the Roughrider Saloon as they enjoy the views is adventure enough.
