Every year is different, but in most years, their concerts are held in the spring and in the fall, while the Phoenix concerts (it’s only a three-hour road trip) are often held in January. As we mentioned above, the mission of the Red Rocks Music Festival is to educate, but they also engage the audience, challenging their preconceptions of what music should be. As a whole, much of the world has forgotten the simple beauty of a string quartet, usually dressed in black, sitting under the spotlight as the melancholy music is emitted from their instruments. People no longer shed tears at the nimble fingers of a pianist, offering their renditions of music that has been adored for centuries. And the standing ovation when the conductor gives his final bow is something that music fans have strayed away from, but during the concerts offered by the Red Rocks Music Festival, for a shining few hours, the world remembers.

The Beauty of Home

After the final bow has been made and the curtain has fallen, it will be time to return to the place you’re calling home for the little while, our musical sanctuaries are warm and inviting, you may dance your way into the main hallway, still hearing the chamber music playing in your heart, and because you aren’t quite ready to for the music to end, your first order of business will be to play your favorite tunes. High-speed internet makes streaming any channel easy, and because many of our properties offer sound systems, you can sing along as you stand in front of the huge windows that look out onto our red rock landscape, tap your toes as you open up the wine refrigerator and pull out that bottle of wine you purchased from Winery 1912, and you can hum to the chorus as you sit at our dining tables, sipping, savoring, and reliving the beauty of the concert as your favorite music plays throughout the house.

We’ve often thought that life would be so much easier if we had our personal soundtracks, playing ominous notes when danger is close, flitting like a bee from flower to flower when life is joyful, and offering a mournful magic when we are sad. And although this isn’t exactly realistic, if you think about it, there has always been a soundtrack of sorts that accompanied the best moments of your life. Eventually, yawning will begin, and the need to crawl between the covers of our cloud-soft beds will overcome your FOMO, but there is still time for more music.
